PSAAP-4

Update from December 21, 2023:

The PSAAP-4 Notice of Intent has been posted on grants.gov: grants.gov/search-results-detail/351607.

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Office of Advanced Simulation and Computing (ASC) and Institutional Research & Development Programs intends to issue a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) entitled “Predictive Science Academic Alliance Program (PSAAP) IV Notice of Funding Opportunity.” NNSA plans to issue the NOFO in February 2024 via grants.gov, FedConnect, and the PSAAP website at https://psaap.llnl.gov/. ASC envisions awarding multiple financial assistance awards in the form of cooperative agreements. The estimated period of performance for each award will be approximately five years. NNSA expects to award nine cooperative agreements for this NOFO. The estimated total program funding is $105,000,000. The estimated award ceiling is $3,500,000 annually for up to 5 years, and the estimated award floor is $500,000 annually for up to 5 years. Additional information about this Notice of Intent is located in "Related Documents" at the above grants.gov URL.

Update from December 7, 2023:

Thank you for your patience as we are continuing to prepare for the PSAAP IV phase of our program. Due to some recent sudden changes in personnel at the NNSA Service Center, the office we work closely with during the procurement process and throughout the tenure of PSAAP awards, we have had to delay and modify our initial plan of releasing a Request for Information (RFI) this fall before posting a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) in summer 2024.

Instead, we will soon post a Notice of Intent (NOI) to issue a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for PSAAP IV. The NOI will simply describe our program objectives, intent to issue a NOFO in early 2024, and the expected process (including pre-application stage and merit review criteria) and timeline.

This is our first time going through the NOI/NOFO process, so please continue to bear with us as we prepare for PSAAP IV. Please feel free to forward this information to your team and colleagues that are also interested in our program. Thank you again, and please send any questions you may have about this update to psaap4-questions [at] lanl.gov (psaap4-questions[at]lanl[dot]gov). As additional information becomes available, including the issuance of an NOI and NOFO, we will send updates to an email list and to this page. To be added to the announcement email list, please e-mail a request to psaap4-interest [at] lanl.gov.

We encourage you to continue to discuss your ideas with Laboratory colleagues until the NOFO is issued, at which time a “blackout period” will limit interactions between NNSA laboratories and academia.
